The Clerk of the Circuit Court serves as the recorder of deeds and probate judge, issues marriage licenses and is the official court administrator for all civil and criminal court cases by Judge or Jury along with appeals from the Combined District Court. Divorces, default judgments, partitions, name changes, adoptions, appointment of church trustees and fictitious name certificates, financing statements, concealed handgun permits and passports are also administered through the Clerk's office. Records filed in the Clerk's office begin in 1777. land records, wills, judgments and financing statements are available for public viewing and are also available upon application and fee thourgh the secure remote access site.
