FACILITY MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST - Public Works Department

Fluvanna County is seeking an individual to maintain County facilities systems in a complete and thorough journeyman like manner; using proper procedures, tools and equipment to perform maintenance and repair of architectural, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and structural components and systems as assigned to maintain facility functions and environment. Duties may involve, but are not limited to:

  • Perform routine maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repairs to buildings, equipment, and systems.
  • Repair walls, ceilings, floors, stairs, windows, or doors.
  • Repair or replace lights, plumbing fixtures, receptacles, or hardware.
  • Diagnose maintenance problems and recommend how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
  • Repair machines, equipment, or structures using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices.
  • Work is performed under minimal supervision.

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Preferable vocational school training, certification or associate degree in relevant coursework. Minimum 5 years industrial/commercial maintenance experience. Preferably completion of a recognized Journeyman level maintenance program or training involving both on-the-job formal and informal training with experienced workers. PURCHASING OFFICER--Finance Department  

Fluvanna County is seeking an individual to perform professional procurement services exercising extensive independent judgment and management capabilities.  Duties involve complex and specialized work in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, vehicles, equipment, public works and capital outlay projects, professional and non-professional services, and other services required by, but not limited to, Fluvanna County staff.   Prepare formal solicitation packages including review and preparation of detailed technical specifications, terms and conditions, bonding and surety information, sample contract, and special instructions.  Assist management in developing bid request and proper preparation of procurement documents.  Prepares, reviews, and negotiates contracts for materials, equipment, supplies, construction, public works and capital outlay projects, and for professional and non-professional services.  Monitor and evaluate vendor performance and contract compliance and assist in maintaining the integrity and administration of the organization’s purchasing system. This position will also have oversight of fixed asset inventory, risk management and assists with grants and awarded contracts for compliance.

Requires an Associate’s degree in business or public administration and considerable purchasing experience, preferably in the public sector; or any equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience.  Desired professional certification from a recognized purchasing related organization, such as Virginia Contracting Officer (VCO) or Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO).  Salary DOQ starting at $20.02/hr. Information Technology Systems Engineer

 RECREATION AIDE, Part Time --Parks & Recreation

The County of Fluvanna, VA is seeking a part time Recreation Aide that will assist in overseeing recreational activities and programs. Duties include: Assisting in any number of activities such as youth sports, special event programs, crafts, sports leagues, etc. in accordance to the mission, purpose and policies of the County’s Parks and Recreation Department. Responsibilities also involve helping facilitate functions of community development, programs, relationship building, developing others, project management, quality results, and retention with the focus on Values, Inclusion, Relationships and Communication; as well as other services required by Fluvanna County.  Primary Focus: Assists program directors in carrying out activity goals and objectives. Manage assigned areas and programs while maintaining communication with all involved. Must be able to work in large and small group settings. Maintains attendance and other records and prepares reports as needed. Keeps recreation facilities and grounds clean and safe for all participants.

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will bring experience and knowledge in managing youth and adult activities and programs or equivalent combination of education and experience. The candidate must be able to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends. The position requires the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and must have a current VA driver’s license and be able to drive between off site locations if needed. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Driving and Criminal History Background check required.  Hiring Range: $10.00 to $11.50 per hour, DOQ.
