DEPUTY CLERK I - Clerk of the Court's Office
The County of Fluvanna, VA is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Clerk I to perform clerical work in the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court. The general duties include processing legal documents, entering data, indexing records and documents, collecting fees, maintaining records and files and assisting the public. The primary duties include assisting with the department’s bookkeeping functions, recording deeds and processing passport applications. The preferred applicant will have general knowledge of office methods, procedures and practices and will have the ability to communicate effectively and maintain effective working relationships with Court officials, associates and the general public. Must obtain certifications as a Certified Deputy Clerk within 1 year of employment.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some clerical experience, preferably in a clerk's office or law office.
FINANCIAL SERVICES TECHNICIAN--Finance Department
Financial Services Technician – PAYROLL
The County of Fluvanna, Virginia, is accepting applications for the position of Financial Services Technician. The preferred applicant will have a thorough understanding and experience in preparation and maintenance of payroll and billing processes.
The Financial Services Technician is responsible for preparing and participating in the bi-weekly payroll, preparing monthly, quarterly and year-end tax reporting and other financial recordkeeping processes of the County. The ideal candidate will need to be able to respond to questions regarding payroll deductions and other billing inquiries, research and resolve problems, prepare billing reconciliations and reports, as well as cross train for other financial functions.
Minimum education and experience will include a high school education with courses of study in business finance and 2 years of experience in processing payroll transactions. Preferred qualifications include a degree in Accounting or Business; prior experience in local government and demonstrated knowledge of payroll tax processes and regulations. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Salary negotiable, depending on qualifications plus benefits.

MAINTENANCE WORKER - Public Works Department
The County of Fluvanna, VA is seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker to perform grounds-keeping and landscaping services and other duties as assigned.
Primary Duties include: Perform a variety of landscaping and grounds maintenance tasks; mow, seed, plant, prune, trim, spray, and fertilize grass, trees, shrubs, bushes, hedges and flowers; operate, maintain, and repair equipment; perform minor building maintenance and repairs; clean buildings; other services required by Fluvanna County. This is heavy work requiring exertion in excess of 100 pounds occasionally, in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and in excess of 20 pounds of force regularly.
Eligible candidates must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record during employment.
The ideal candidate will have: high school diploma or equivalent; general knowledge of grounds and building maintenance; general knowledge of maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment. Must be willing to work evenings, nights, and weekends and during inclement weather on an on-call basis.
EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER--Sheriff's Office
The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for a full-time Emergency Communications Officer. RECREATION AIDE, Part Time --Parks & Recreation
The County of Fluvanna, VA is seeking a part time Recreation Aide that will assist in overseeing recreational activities and programs. Duties include: Assisting in any number of activities such as youth sports, special event programs, crafts, sports leagues, etc. in accordance to the mission, purpose and policies of the County’s Parks and Recreation Department. Responsibilities also involve helping facilitate functions of community development, programs, relationship building, developing others, project management, quality results, and retention with the focus on Values, Inclusion, Relationships and Communication; as well as other services required by Fluvanna County. Primary Focus: Assists program directors in carrying out activity goals and objectives. Manage assigned areas and programs while maintaining communication with all involved. Must be able to work in large and small group settings. Maintains attendance and other records and prepares reports as needed. Keeps recreation facilities and grounds clean and safe for all participants.
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will bring experience and knowledge in managing youth and adult activities and programs or equivalent combination of education and experience. The candidate must be able to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends. The position requires the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and must have a current VA driver’s license and be able to drive between off site locations if needed. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Driving and Criminal History Background check required. Hiring Range: $10.00 to $11.50 per hour, DOQ.
