RECREATION PROGRAM SPECIALIST - 4111 - Parks and Recreation
The County of Fluvanna, VA is seeking a full-time Youth, Teen, and Family Recreation Program Specialist. Duties include: Leadership and program services management in accordance to the mission, purpose and policies of the County’s Parks and Recreation Department. Responsibilities also involve directing functions of community development, programs, relationship building, developing others, project management, quality results, and retention with the focus on Values, Inclusion, Relationships and Communication; as well as other services required by Fluvanna County.
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will bring several years of progressively responsible experience in recreation program planning and implementation; a Bachelor’s degree in recreation or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The candidate must be able to work a varied schedule, including some evenings and weekends. The position requires the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and must have a current VA driver’s license and be able to drive between off site locations. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Driving and Criminal History Background check required.
Primary Focus: Plan and implement summer, spring and winter break day camps, Special Events and programs to include: Valentines Dance, Halloween Festival, Christmas Holiday event, Easter Egg-Stravaganza, Teen and specialty dances and activities; Specialty youth and adult classes and programs to include: hunter and boat safety, Dog Obedience, Horse classes, Pottery, Arts and Crafts, Painting, CPR/First Aid, Writers Group, Specialty classes for families, and other special events as assigned. Hire, supervise, direct and evaluate assigned staff of volunteers and instructors; Purchase and inventory of supplies and equipment relating to programs. Coordinates and assists with the design of publications, promotional and advertising materials.
