Quad County Business Summit is almost here
The 2019 Quad County Business Summit is just over a week away. Businesses from Greene, Orange, Louisa and Fluvanna will gather on Wednesday, October 2. The QCBS allows businesses from the four counties to connect, learn and prosper at a free event hosted by the Central Virginia Small Business Development Center and the economic development offices and Chambers of Commerce from each county.
“I’m excited for the 4th annual Quad County Business Summit. This is a perfect chance for businesses to meet with their peers from the other three counties to network and learn,” said Bryan Rothamel, Fluvanna’s Economic Development Coordinator. “We have a fantastic lineup and day planned for participants.”
The 2019 edition includes keynote speaker, business comedian Brett Leake. He will share how fun gets work done. Also on hand will be Doug Bouton from Halo Top. Bouton is a co-founder of one of the most disruptive grocery store ice cream brands ever. Participants can hear how Bouton and his partner grew the brand to one of the largest grocery store ice cream brands in the country and how it was acquired by Wells Enterprises earlier this month. Bouton now will lead a licensed company to expand Halo Top internationally.
As part of the breakout session, businesses owners can learn from professionals in marketing, finance or human resources. The resource fair will include partners to help grow your business like the local Small Business Development Center, SCORE, Community Investment Collaborative, state agencies and more.
The highlight of the afternoon will be the QuadTank competition. The top three applicants will pitch the judges to take home a cash prize $4,750. This Shark Tank like event will be done live for the entire summit to watch. Participants can see how potential investors would interact with a company seeking financing.
“The QuadTank is an exciting aspect of this year’s event. The winner take all prize can really help infuse a business idea with quick cash,” said Rothamel.
To register, go to QCBSummit.com. The event starts at 11 am at Madison at the Mill in the town of Orange. Participants will be provided lunch and Halo Top for an ice cream social. Area businesses can check in with their respective Economic Development Office or Chamber of Commerce.
