#4090- Summer Camp Counselors

The County of Fluvanna is recruiting for the positions of Camp Counselors.

These are seasonal positions that operate approximately from June 2, 2025, through August 8, 2025.

The Camp Counselor position is responsible for implementing the summer/winter camp program by actively engaging with participants daily. This position provides oversight of camp programs under the mission, vision, and policies of the Fluvanna County Parks and Recreation Department while ensuring the safety of program participants throughout each day; providing transportation to various activities including disc golf, hiking, kayaking, trips, and other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Checks in/out camp participants upon arrival/dismissal.
• Engages with camp participants and leads activities daily.
• Transports camp participants to various activity locations.
• Coordinates with the supervisor on outcomes of outings.
• Prepares incident reports as necessary.
• Provides feedback to the supervisor with an update on daily activities.
• Communicate with parents about positive outcomes and opportunities.
• Carries out other duties as assigned.
• Schedules will vary between 8 - 10 hours/day and the applicant must be able to work outdoors for up to 10 hours at a time.
• The schedule will vary between 20-30 hours/per week.
• This position requires the ability to sit and/or stand for long periods and use a computer, telephone, and related business equipment as necessary for this position.  
• Requires the ability to travel to and between center/off-site locations.
•  May be required to occasionally lift 25 lbs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
Possess a clean driving record, valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Prior camp counseling experience is preferred.
Must be able to work outdoors for up to ten hours a day.
CPR and First Aid certification is preferred, but not required. 

 $13.65* Updated Hourly Rate/Seasonal-Part-Time (No-Benefits)
*Counselors are required to attend a mandatory one-day orientation*
