Athletics and Special Events Coordinator - 4114

The County of Fluvanna, VA is seeking a full-time Athletics and Special Events Coordinator to lead and implement athletic programs and classes, seasonal camps, and special events.

Primary Duties include: Administer youth and adult sports programs in alignment with approved budgets; Train, supervise and schedule part-time staff for sports programs and events; Set-up and ensure that facilities and equipment used for all program activities are safe and serviceable; Responsible for planning and coordination of County events, festivals, and fairs; Design and execute marketing and promotion efforts for all programs administered; This position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly.

Eligible candidates must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license, be able to drive between off-site locations, and maintain a satisfactory driving record during employment. Selected candidate must pass a criminal background check.

The ideal candidate will have: several years of progressively responsible experience in athletic program and events planning and implementation; a Bachelor’s degree in recreation or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.

Work schedule varies with programs and events. Applicant must be willing to work some evenings and weekends. Salary Grade 11, $15.60 -$17.94 per hour (annual $32,455-$37,323) plus benefits, DOQ.
