FAMILY SERVICES SUPERVISOR- Department of Social Services

This position supervises Child Protective Services and Prevention staff that provide direct services for fostering and sustaining the social, health, economic, behavioral, and emotional functioning of individuals and families serviced by the Local Departments of Social Services. The incumbent sets and enforces objectives for quality and quantity of work performed by unit, evaluates social service programs and program budgets, and recommends policy changes based on evaluation of program effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field or minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in any field and a minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area. Considerable experience in assigned program area/human services programs and completion of required training programs. Supervisory experience or work experience in a leadership role. Equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications: Possession of a BSW or MSW degree and a Commonwealth of Virginia Social Worker license; Experience with OASIS, SafeMeasures, ESPAS, VaCMS and/or Accurint computer systems; Considerable years of supervisory experience or work experience in a leadership role.

The investigation may include: fingerprint checks (State Police, FBI), local agency checks, employment verification and references, verification of education (relevant to employment), credit checks (relevant to employment) and other checks requested by the hiring authority. Employee must be willing to work in the community emergency shelter in the event of a natural disaster or emergency.

Hiring Range: Begins at $43, 895 and is negotiable depending on qualifications. EOE
