Financial Services Specialist – ***INTERNAL EMPLOYEE ONLY***

The County of Fluvanna, Virginia, is accepting internal applications (County Government Employees only) for the position of Financial Services Specialist. The preferred applicant will have a thorough understanding and experience involving the processing, reconciling and maintenance of payroll and payroll taxes, accounts payable, billing, accounts receivable, journal entries and related records.

The Financial Services Specialist is responsible for preparing the bi-weekly payroll, preparing monthly, quarterly and year-end tax reporting, processing employee benefits, managing the EMS Cost Recovery Program and other financial recordkeeping processes of the County. The ideal candidate will need to be able to respond to questions regarding payroll and benefit deductions and other billing inquiries, research and resolve problems, prepare billing reconciliations and reports, as well as assist in other financial functions.

Minimum education and experience will include a high school education with courses of study in business and/or finance and 2 years of experience in processing payroll transactions. Preferred qualifications include a degree in Accounting or Business; prior experience in local government and demonstrated knowledge of payroll tax processes and regulations. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Salary beginning at $37,440 plus benefits, DOQ.
