October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time dedicated to remembering victims whose lives ended too soon as the result of domestic violence, offering safety and support for those currently in abusive relationships and celebrating survivors who are now free from their abusers.

911 And Non-Emergency Phones Have Been Restored

911 and Non-Emergency Phone Outage
For Immediate Release – No Further Updates Anticipated

At this time, it appears that the 911 and normal non-emergency phone service has been restored to the Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Communications Center. If you are experiencing an emergency, call 911. If you need other assistance, the normal nonemergency number, 434-589-8211 can be used. If you encounter difficulty connecting, the two numbers previously released will be available and monitored until 7:00 PM today in case further outages occur.

Temperatures are expected to remain in the 90s throughout the day (Wednesday, Aug 28), with real feel temps up to 105 degrees.

Fluvanna County Emergency Management will continue to monitor temperatures and weather. Alerts will be sent in the event of hazardous conditions.

Members shall advise the Director of Parks and Recreation and the Board of Supervisors on the planning and development of a comprehensive system of parks and recreation services for the benefit of the citizens of Fluvanna County.  Members also serve as a liaison between the Parks and Recreation Director, the Board of Supervisors and the citizens of the county.
