Crimes Against A Person

The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office takes seriously all criminal acts against persons and supports victim’s rights organizations. Furthermore, the Sheriff’s Office highly recommends that victims of assault contact local and state agencies for support and guidance to assist them during difficult times. A few important resources are located on this page, as well as on the Community Programs page of this website.

Fluvanna Students Awarded Sheriff’s Institute Scholarships

Fluvanna County Sheriff Eric B. Hess presented Erica Weaver and Crista Elliott each with a check for $1,000 for both students to pursue degrees in criminal justice.

Investigations

The Investigations section is comprised of four full-time general investigators under the command of Lieutenant Aaron Hurd. 

Full time (40 HR/WK) EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER:

The Communications Officers provide a vital service to the Fluvanna County community by contributing to the safety and welfare of their fellow team members and citizens. They are the first point of contact in most emergency situations. The County offers extensive training and opportunities for career development in law enforcement.

 

 

Full time AND Part time (20 HR/WK) DEPUTY SHERIFFS:

Unlike larger agencies, officers and deputies in Fluvanna County get a chance to investigate some of their own cases and follow them from the initial report to the courtroom. The County offers opportunities for training and certifications; Patrol, Court Services, Civil Process, Criminal Investigations, bicycle and motorcycle patrol. Deputies also get opportunities for increased community involvement and have time to develop community relationships.
