911 and Non-Emergency Phone Outage

Residents should use 434-962-1761 and 434-962-2894 to report an emergency.

At approximately 1:45 AM, on Saturday, September 28, 2024, The Fluvanna County Emergency Communications Center was notified that a service outage was being
experienced by Brightspeed (formerly CenturyLink) and Verizon that was affecting the 911 and non-emergency phone lines coming into the Center.

Currently, it appears that citizens have no or limited ability to make outgoing calls using traditional landline phones. The Communications Center has been alerted that 911 calls made by citizens using Verizon Wireless are being routed to other 911 centers and arrangements have been made for the transfer and response to those emergencies. 911 calls made by other wireless providers appear to be functioning regularly. However, any citizen who calls 911 and is not connected with a Communications Officer should immediately call one of the two numbers listed below.

The Communications Center has activated two phone lines for Fluvanna County citizens to use to contact Fluvanna County directly. Those numbers are 434-962-1761 and 434-962-2894. Communications Officers are prepared to answer emergency and non-emergency calls on those numbers. More information will be sent out as it is received. At this time, no projected restoration time for service has been communicated to the Center.

The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office is asking that this information be shared across the community so that our citizens are fully informed of how to summon emergency and non-emergency assistance during this time. Law Enforcement, Fire and Emergency Services resources are available and are responding normally to all calls received.
