During this busy holiday time, people are often in a hurry and thinking of everything but driving conditions. The Sheriff’s Office asks that everyone slow down and focus on their driving.

Distracted driving, not paying attention to your driving or the road conditions, is now a leading
cause of traffic crashes and motor vehicle related deaths.

Between December 23rd and noon on December 24th, the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office has responded to four motor vehicle crashes on South Boston Road between Slice Road and River Ridge Drive near Lake Monticello. In most cases, driving too fast for the highway condition has been the common factor. When the roads are wet, SLOW DOWN, it’s that simple.

There was a fatal crash in this same area on December 1, 2015. The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office will be stepping up traffic enforcement in this area of the county.
