FLUVANNA COUNTY CONTINUES TO MONITOR, PREPARE, AND ENCOURAGE CITIZEN AWARENESS REGARDING COVID-19

Fluvanna County Government, the Fluvanna Sheriff’s Office, and the Fluvanna County Public Schools, continue to monitor the rapidly evolving COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation. Though there are no known cases in the County, Fluvanna continues to monitor and prepare. Residents are encouraged to consult available, credible resources to maintain awareness, and to observe healthy practices.

Drivers should plan extra travel time, expect flagging operations during construction

CULPEPER — Motorists should plan extra travel time as construction of a roundabout begins next week at the intersection of Route 53 (Thomas Jefferson Parkway) and Route 618 (Lake Monticello Road) in Fluvanna County. 

Under a $2.2 million construction contract, Chemung Contracting Corp. will convert the existing “T” intersection to a single-lane roundabout.

Free Fair = Fun, Food, Workshops, Entertainment & New Community Connections

Organizers of the Community Connections Fair expect hundreds of Fluvanna residents to flock to Fluvanna County High School Saturday, MARCH 28 to enjoy food, entertainment, door prizes, informational workshops, activities for kids and adults, and exhibits by more than 50 Fluvanna nonprofits seeking volunteers.  Admission and all activities are free at the fair from 10 AM-3 PM. continuing reading

Central Virginia Electric Cooperative (CVEC) and Firefly Fiber BroadbandSM received $28,000,000 in funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Reconnect Program.

Southern Commercial Development, LLC. working with CSX Transportation to provide traffic control and detour signage for railroad crossing closures which require routine maintenance, shares the following railroad detour information: 

CSX Railroad has scheduled the below list of crossings to be closed for repair.  This will necessitate rerouting traffic.  Signage will be in place marking detour routes. Please note the expected close dates. Each crossing will be closed for 2 to 5 days.

Fluvanna County's Pleasant Grove Certified by State Tourism Corporation

PALMYRA, VA – Fluvanna County’s Pleasant Grove House is now officially a certified tourist information center. The Fluvanna visitor center satisfied all certification requirements set by the Virginia Tourism Corporation.

“Becoming a certified tourist information center is a great step forward for what we are trying to do as a County.  This will help us get the word out in other localities about the many outdoor activities and two museums we have in our park as well as other destinations in the county,” said Aaron Spitzer, Director of Parks and Recreation.
