Buildings and Grounds

The Buildings and Grounds sections of the Public Works Department are responsible for maintaining and operating all County-owned facilities other than those utilized by Fluvanna County Schools. This includes routine cleaning and maintenance, as well as minor in-house repairs and alterations to buildings and facilities.

The Buildings Section provides regular routine custodial and maintenance services to the County’s Administrative buildings and offices, ensuring that these facilities remain operational so that the County’s Administrative Departments may function without interruption, in a comfortable and safe environment.

The Grounds Section maintains the County’s Parks and the exterior grounds of the County’s buildings. They mow, provide fertilization & weed control, and empty outdoor trash receptacles at all County facilities, provide routine maintenance of the buildings, structures and fences at Pleasant Grove and Bremo Park, and provide mowing and basic maintenance of sports fields.

Both sections also provide services to County Administration such as assembly and set-up of office furniture, routine maintenance of the County’s Administrative vehicle fleet, and the preparation, set-up and break-down of temporary facilities for special events.
