Fluvanna Water Tower Ranked 10th Nationally

ZXR Water Tower

ZION CROSSROADS, VA – The Zion Crossroads Water and Sewer System water tower design was selected as one of the best painted water tanks in America. Tnemec, a company who specializes in coatings and linings, picked the Fluvanna water tower logo as the 10th best logo painted in 2020.

The Zion Crossroads Water Tower logo is a variation of the Fluvanna County logo. The logo highlights the County’s natural beauty with a canoer in a river and a bicyclist enjoying the countryside among rolling hills, trees, and a setting sun.

“The Zion Crossroads Water and Sewer System water tower welcomes everyone to Fluvanna so we made it a priority to give a great first impression. The water tower is a wonderful addition to the growth area that will welcome visitors, residents and future business owners for years to come,” said Bryan Rothamel, Fluvanna’s Economic Development Coordinator.

The award-winning logo is 18 feet tall and 34 feet wide. The Fluvanna tower also finished in the top 10 by a popular vote earlier in October. Tnemec officials reviewed over 300 nominations for this year’s Tank of the Year competition. Officials selected the top 11 water tanks plus the popular vote winner to be included in the top 12 water tanks of the year. Fluvanna’s tower will be included in the “2020 Tank of the Year” website feature for the next year and in the Tnemec 2021 wall calendar.

The Zion Crossroads Water and Sewer System will service nearly four miles of the Route 250 and Route 15 corridor. Once construction is completed, the system will utilize up to 75,000 gallons of water a day from Mechunk Creek. The Department of Corrections’ facility on Route 250 will provide the water and treat up to 125,000 gallons of sewage, available immediately after construction completion.

The water tower was constructed by CB&I/McDermott. The engineer for the system is Dewberry. The water tank was completed in April 2020.
