Captain Von L. Hill
Captain Von Hill is a veteran of Law Enforcement, who offers more than 30 years of expertise in the field related to every segment of the criminal justice system. Captain Hill has proudly served as a sworn law enforcement officer in this public safety sector, especially for the last 21 years in Fluvanna County. In August 2014, a career development panel selected Captain Hill for the position of Chief of Administration of the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office, for which he carries the rank of Captain. He began working in law enforcement in 1992 as a Communications Officer and certified as a law enforcement officer in 1994 working as a Deputy Sheriff-Patrol for the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, later earning the rank of Corporal. He offers a diverse combination of knowledge, experience, and skills that ideally fit the requirements of the captain’s role in the Sheriff’s Office and/or any other law enforcement agency.
This progressive professional attended the Central Shenandoah Criminal Justice Training Academy and is where he completed his Law Enforcement Officer certification. He has completed a myriad of advanced law enforcement ranks, roles, functions, jobs, training, other related educational programs, and certifications.
Captain Hill joined the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office in 2003 where he was assigned to the Investigative Division, heading up the School Resource Officer Program in the Fluvanna County Public Schools. He soon earned a promotion to the rank of Lieutenant and became the Commanding Officer of the Judicial Affairs, Animal Control, Civil Process, and Records Divisions.
Captain Hill is married to his beautiful wife; they share seven children. His family enjoys camping, theme parks, and other outdoor activities. Captain Hill and his family all live happily in Fluvanna County.
Captain Hill’s goal is to ensure that the Sheriff’s Office maintains its effective policing for the safety and security of all citizens in Fluvanna County. He believes that this is his highest priority and will work diligently to improve the overall quality of life for every citizen. Captain Hill will continue to improve his agency’s pursuits of administrative and operational excellence, as he continues to protect all county and community assets and perform other necessary programs and functions.
Captain Hill always looks forward to and welcomes the challenges of his role. Captain Hill’s experience is the catalyst for enhancements within the Sheriff’s Office's functioning and representation.
