K-9

The K-9 Deputy is a part of our patrol unit.  Deputy Greene met his canine partner Alexander Vom Altice "Alex" in October 2009.Alex was purchased from a Johnson City Officer and bred in Indiana.  Alex came with some training before he was assigned to Deputy Greene.  Deputy Greene works diligently with Alex to make sure both he and Alex are fully trained in all aspects of their job.  Alex is a Belgian Malinois trained in narcotics detection, patrol, and tracking.   As a team, Deputy Greene and Alex's training consist of multiple scenarios ranging from foot pursuits, building searches, building extractions, vehicle extractions, drug detection, and tactical support to their fellow deputies and surrounding agencies.   Alex has a passive response to any illegal narcotics found, meaning once he detects the odor of the illegal narcotic, he responds by going into a "sit" position.
