Fluvanna County Emergency Shelter Opens at 5:00pm, Jan 6, 2022

The National Weather Service in Wakefield continues to monitor another winter weather system expected to impact Fluvanna County beginning Thursday night, January 6, 2022 and continuing into Friday, January 7. With many in Fluvanna County still without power and the system predicted to add another 2 – 4 inches of accumulation, Fluvanna County will convert the current warming station located at the Fluvanna County High School, 1918 Thomas Jefferson Parkway, Palmyra, VA into an Emergency Shelter beginning at 5:00pm, today, Thursday, January 6, 2022.  The shelter will be open overnight.

Emergency Shelters in Fluvanna

JAN 8, 10am UPDATE: The Fluvanna County Emergency Shelter located at the Fluvanna County High School, 1918 Thomas Jefferson Parkway, will close at 5:00pm today.  It will remain open until 5:00pm for warming and charging.
The Emergency Shelter at the Kents Store ARC will close at 11:00am this morning, January 8, 2022.

2021 Redistricting

At the December 15, 2021 Fluvanna County Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board voted to maintain a five election district structure. This action sets the election districts for the next ten years, until the next dicennial census.

2021 Quad County Business Summit

The Fluvanna County Office of Economic Development and the Quad County Business Summit Planning Committee are pleased to announce this year’s Summit will include keynote speaker, Kiley Doll, a local serial entrepreneur.  Kiley is passionate about the empowerment of struggling entrepreneurs and uses every challenge she has encountered during her career to mentor budding business owners. Emergency Broadband Benefit Program:

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has announced that the $3.2 billion Emergency Broadband Benefit Program has been launched. A reminder that the program will provide a $50/month ($75/month on tribal lands) subsidy for the cost of internet service for select individuals for six months. The list of Virginia's participating broadband providers can be found here. Eligible households can sign up for the program directly through their broadband provider or online.

Virginia Counties Recognized for Model Programs

RICHMOND (August 5, 2021)—The Virginia Association of Counties (VACo) is pleased to announce the 30 recipients of the 2021 Achievement Awards, which recognize excellence in local government programs. VACo received 102 submissions. 

Winning entries focused on addressing issues of inclusion, belonging, and reconciliation that challenge counties today.
