Fluvanna Job Fair

FORK UNION, VA – Fluvanna County will host an outdoor job fair Friday, November 20, 2020. Fluvanna-based businesses will be available to discuss openings with job seekers from 2-4 p.m. in the Silk City Printing parking lot located at 60 Carysbrook Road, Fork Union, VA 23055.

“Businesses from Fluvanna are hiring. We will have jobs ranging from entry-level to specialized skills available for those looking for a new job,” said Bryan Rothamel, Economic Development Coordinator. “Businesses represented at the fair are based from Zion Crossroads to Fork Union.”

VDOT ANNOUNCES ROUTE 53-618 ROUNDABOUT COMPLETE

Project finished on-time and on-budget 

Construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Route 53 (Thomas Jefferson Parkway) and Route 618 (Lake Monticello Road) in Fluvanna County finished on-time Nov. 17. 

Under a $2.2 million construction contract, Chemung Contracting Corp. of Mitchells replaced the “T” intersection with a single-lane roundabout. 

QuadTank Finalists Announced

PALMYRA, VA – The Quad County Business Summit is right around the corner and the finalists are set for the 2020 QuadTank.

The Quad County Business Summit (QCBS) kicks off November 17 at 10 am with this year’s QuadTank competitors. The four finalists are (in alphabetical order): Blue Ridge Coffee Crafters (Greene), Reliable Rides (Fluvanna), Sir Speedy (Orange), and Two Labs Coffee (Fluvanna). The winner of the QuadTank will be announced at the start of the Summit session at 1 pm.

Fuel Assistance Application Period Underway Deadline to apply is November 13

The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is currently accepting applications for fuel assistance online and at all local departments of social services through Friday, November 13. Applications may also be submitted by telephone by contacting the Enterprise Customer Service Center, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at (855) 635-4370. Traffic Detour - Nov 4 - SR 690

CSX Railroad, working with Southern Commercial Development, has scheduled the below crossings to be closed for repair of a sperry defect. This will necessitate rerouting traffic. Signage will be in place marking detour routes. Please note the expected close dates. Attached map indicates traffic detour.

Fluvanna Water Tower Ranked 10th Nationally

ZION CROSSROADS, VA – The Zion Crossroads Water and Sewer System water tower design was selected as one of the best painted water tanks in America. Tnemec, a company who specializes in coatings and linings, picked the Fluvanna water tower logo as the 10th best logo painted in 2020.

The Zion Crossroads Water Tower logo is a variation of the Fluvanna County logo. The logo highlights the County’s natural beauty with a canoer in a river and a bicyclist enjoying the countryside among rolling hills, trees, and a setting sun.

Fluvanna Welcomes 93 New Jobs from Silk City Printing

RICHMOND—Governor Ralph Northam today announced that Silk City Printing, LLC will relocate its corporate headquarters from Paterson, New Jersey, investing $5.7 million to establish a new silkscreened apparel production operation in the former Thomasville facility in Fluvanna County that has been vacant since 2007. Virginia successfully competed with New Jersey for the project, which will create 93 new jobs. 

Firefly Fiber Broadband Partners with Fluvanna County to Expand Rural Broadband with CARES Act Funding

(Arrington, VA)-Firefly Fiber BroadbandSM, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Central Virginia Electric Cooperative(CVEC), is partnering with FluvannaCounty to make use of the fundsthat are available for non-CVEC areas in the county as a one-time opportunity to quickly expand broadband availability in response to COVID issues. 2020 Quad County Business Summit

Fluvanna County, VA –  Fluvanna County Economic Development Office, in collaboration with the Fluvanna Chamber of Commerce, Central Virginia Small Business Development Center and peer organizations in Greene County, Louisa County and Orange County will host the 2020 Quad County Business Summit on November 17 from 1:00-4:00 pm.
