The Board of Supervisors is the policy-making and adjudicating body of the County.  The Board is comprised of five Supervisors, each representing one of the County’s five voting districts:  Columbia, Cunningham, Fork Union, Palmyra, and Rivanna.  Supervisors are elected by citizens to four-year terms.

79. Help a military veteran relax and recharge...or if you are a vet, come relax!

Led by Kim Munson, Holistic Outreach for Veterans (HOV) aims to help vets deal with their traumas by offering a range of treatment options, at no charge. Licensed and trained volunteers meet monthly to offer massage, meditation, reiki, aroma therapy, and balancing exercises that give way for the body and spirit’s natural ability to heal and recover from trauma.

78. Swim with the “Sharks” at Lake Monticello’s pool.

Lake Monticello's pool is located at the Ashlawn Clubhouse. The pool features a zero gravity entry and area for children, diving board and swim lanes. The pool is part of the private Lake Monticello community. Call ahead for information.

Drivers should plan extra travel time, expect flagging operations during construction

CULPEPER — Motorists should plan extra travel time as construction of a roundabout begins next week at the intersection of Route 53 (Thomas Jefferson Parkway) and Route 618 (Lake Monticello Road) in Fluvanna County. 

Under a $2.2 million construction contract, Chemung Contracting Corp. will convert the existing “T” intersection to a single-lane roundabout.

77. Be a beach bum on Sandy Beach Trail.

Sandy Beach Trail, located at the Eastern Trailhead, is an ADA accessible trail. The easy walk to the Rivanna River includes a fitness trail.

76. Become a friend of the library at Fluvanna County Public Library.

Friends of the Library have been supporting the Fluvanna County Public Library since 1989 by raising funds to provide equipment, books, and other materials not covered by the library’s budget. Friends also fund the Children’s Summer Reading Program. Money is raised by dues and donations as well as fundraising activities such as book sales, bake sales, raffles, and selling soft goods such as book bags. Friends also sponsor culturally enriching programs such as speakers and field trips. The annual membership fee is $5.00 per person, $10.00 per family.

75. Dance to the DJ (or get a bite to eat) at the Dogwood.

74. Explore some old records in the County records room.

The Clerk is required by statute to permanently preserve and archive the official records of the Court, in addition to probate (estate), real estate, and a vast array of other county records. The Clerk's Office maintains records dating back to 1777, the year of the county's inception.
